Editorial : About the Author Frank Leon Barnes was born on a farm near Leedey, Oklahoma September 1, 1923. After serving as a nose gunner on a B-24 Liberator Bomber in World War II he attended Oklahoma A&M College in Stillwater, Oklahoma and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. His ministry in Oklahoma included a mission church in Mehan, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Jennings, and served four and one half years as Southern Baptist's first missionary to the Cheyenne Indians near Hammon. Frank taught school for three years during these early years of ministry. He and Betty Jo Howard of Duncan, Oklahoma married in 1951 and they have three children, James Barnes, Judy Gregory and Jean Kelso who live in Texas. Frank spent thirty-five years in the Northwest where he was pastor of the First Baptist Church in Kellogg, Idaho for six and one-half years and pastor of Pines Baptist Church, Spokane, Washington for twenty-six years. Again, Jonathan London magnificently captures the spirit of these great creatures while Daniel San Souci's illustrations reflect the true beauty of the endangered red wolf. After waiting a couple of years for the 3rd book I think my expectations might have gotten a little too high for this one. If you like American popular music, you will probably finding yourself lost in this book, looking and finding your particular favorite songs and going off to listening to some great recordings of the songs from which the lyrics are taken. And there's a bit too much of the reportage I mentioned, where the reader is told what is happening (or what happened off stage) rather than being shown it.
