Myself, I never even once tasted the honey and vinegar. Very good written book, just enough for the beginner to learn about the complexity of Jordan and the neighboring countries in Middle East conflicts.
I thought that I can learn about politics of Middle East from the news, but news only talk about current event in a very superficial way. But, the action eventually does pick back up, and everything adds up to a pretty darn good fantasy story.
So, if you like high fantasy, with great magic and world-wide stakes, then you will like this book. For these reasons, it's a fun change in the series. 10 out 10.
