Doodling and drawing have been my hobbies since I outgrew coloring books. After receiving a bachelor's degree in English Literature from the University of Chicago, I went to work as a secretary and began serious doodling again in 1970, using a drafting pen and colored pencils. Eventually I decided to try the technique on eggshells, perhaps inspired by my first view of real art eggs, a Christmas display of pysanke eggs at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. I find that the egg is a perfect and intriguing form for transforming a two-dimensional design into an interesting three-dimensional object. Having progressed through a number of techniques and styles over the years, I tend to repeat several of my favorites because creating them is such a pleasant activity. Now I have come full circle, creating the same sort of abstract doodle designs on paper for my own enjoyment and now for yours, too.
Editorial :
There is not much there for your $100+, but it is a book I am very glad I own. There were a few other editorial gaffes that would be cured by an independent editor. The item description didn't tell me this, however, and ordering the separate workbook was unecessary. Februaren, Heris, the Ascendant, and one of the leading dwarves all have very distinctive, vibrant narrative voices, and so the story seemed to come alive whenever we switched back to this group.
The plot involving Piper's growing estrangement from the Patriarchy and entanglement with the Grail Empire I found less compelling. Great piece of songs, my daughter used this when she plays her violen in school.. An interesting event occurred many years ago regarding the contents of this book, and I hope it will help me and others, in giving it a try. Fair book but detailed. Life as they know it has ended. I like Bill Johnson's illustrations. Ralph Helfer has 3 books as far as I know and I have been riveted by all of them. G
