Editorial : The 10 supermodels in the photographs on these pages are extraordinary, extended earthlings who look as if they've been pulled at both ends like saltwater taffy. If the book title seems to suggest that it is the ambitious photographer, fashion shutterbug Peter Lindbergh, who created them rather than they who inspired him with their raw material, well, let him dream. His 108 sensual and appreciative black-and-white photos do beautiful justice to these stunning young women. The only exception is Cindy Crawford, who looks zipper-lipped and white-bread American next to the likes of Helena Christensen, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Tatjana Patitz, the adorable Claudia Sizzler--Schiffer--and Amber Valletta (who, for some reason, is always called "androgynous"). At 22, Valletta looks tired, as usual, but her gender identity is awfully clear. But let's not quibble; even Crawford is drop-dead gorgeous. I have lived in many places over the years, in NY, AZ and now in northern ID. This great little book is another gem from Mr. My heart goes out to each of them as they try to stop their guilt. This book is very introductory, but it does assume you know basic electronics. The pictures take you through the story and give a wonderful visualization to his feelings. Marsche has an incredibly brilliant way with words and paints his scenes with great effect - I could literally see Boam bathing Kebryn, when he arrived at the villa. Chapter 8 contains an interesting presentation (on pages 203-204) of the von Neumann universe, which was actually first published by Zermelo in 1930, although the construction method itself was due to von Neumann.
Overall, the notation is somewhat archaic, and the text is marred by poor translation from German. Maybe its just my modern prejudices showing through, but I thought the author included this stuff more in the spirit of a pro-forma nod to the lege
