If you are looking for a book about the Soviet Union in World War II, the Gulags, the Russian Revolution, and the like -- look elsewhere. I loved the in depth description of the different residences (I felt I could picture every part of each house and apartment to go along with the movie version in my mind) and felt connected to the characters as I learned more about them. The story is well paced, there is ample action and surprises in a story that builds to a believable climax.
A very satisfying read.. I doubt any plumber would do it. There is one thing that I didn't quite understand. Sarah also begins looking into what happened to Lisa not because she suspects anything diabolical, but only to gain a better understanding of May's needs. That advice alone has made my occasional shopping trips more enjoyable.
