Editorial : About the Author Conrad J. Storad is the editor of the national award winning Arizona State University Research Magazine and is the founding editor of Chain Reaction, a science magazine for young readers. He is also the author of many science and nature books for children and young adults. Storad is a year 2000 inductee into the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism Hall of Fame at ASU. Elaine Joyal, PhD, is an ethnobotanist and conservation biologist. Her career has included managing the neotropical collections at the New York Botanical Garden and working with the Nature Conservancy tracking rare plants. Joyal's interest in Native American basketry led her to begin a global survey of plants used in the craft. She is currently an adjunct professor at Arizona State University.
